Rod is well known in the central Pennsylvania area as a performing musician with Groove Jones, American Hollar, Boompop Coalition, The Kilmaine Saints, among others.
As an educator, Rod teaches private lessons on guitar, bass, drums, percussion, ukulele, and mandolin. Rod works at The Rock Mill in Mechanicsburg and is the creator, and leader of all of the institutions ensembles as leader of the school’s ROCK BAND program as well as running many of the summer camps.
Rod also works with the Weary Arts Group (WAG Music) and is the creator of the BOOMPOP Method, a groove based improvisational method, and teaches this approach to students of all ages (3 to 93).
Rod is founder and creator of MUSIC & WELLNESS, a built to suit music program addressing improvement of life through music, creativity, sound, singing, rhythm, movement, and energy.
Rod's latest endeavor has him teaching the teachers! He believes that the independent music educator are the future of music education. He provides a blueprint for educators to level up on their teaching skills--strategy, organizational approach, marketing and business--The SHARE System!
"Weary Arts Group’s Cal Weary and Rod Goelz give you an inside look at Weary Arts Group (WAG). The organization Is made up of a collective of many of the areas finest teachers/programs, dancers, actors, musicians, and poets/spoken word performers. Their mission is to spread art throughout the community, through programs, classes, events, classes, performances, and much more. These are not isolated art events... Rather artists of different types learning and working together throughout the various types of art.
